What does a Digital Imaging Technician do on set?
A Digital Imaging Technician (DIT) manages the digital image workflow between camera and post-production. The role covers on-set colour, monitoring and technical workflow support, alongside media management as scoped for your shoot. Mile Studios plans the setup with your cinematographer, production team and editor.
Do you provide DIT services across the UAE?
Yes. We provide DIT and data wrangling services in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and across the UAE for local production companies and international crews. Share your shoot locations and schedule so we can plan the equipment, storage and handover around studio days, location work and moves between emirates.
What is the difference between a DIT and a data wrangler?
A data wrangler focuses on media offloads, backups and file organisation. A DIT also supports the image workflow, including on-set colour and monitoring. We scope the roles around your production so the crew and equipment match the work your camera and post teams need.
What equipment and storage options are available?
Packages range from portable setups to systems for multi-camera productions, using high-spec computers and storage options from 2 TB to 160 TB. Capacity is planned around your recording format, camera count, expected footage volume and backup needs. Frame.io Camera to Cloud and QTAKE can be included where required.
How do you protect our footage?
We use 3-2-1 backup practices: three copies of your footage, stored on two media types, with one copy kept off-site. During prep, we agree the storage, off-site arrangements and backup schedule with your production team, alongside clear file labelling and an organised handover.
Can editors and clients review footage remotely?
Yes. Frame.io Camera to Cloud and proxy uploads can connect your UAE shoot with editors, producers and clients in Dubai or overseas. We plan compatible equipment, review access and connectivity before filming. Upload timing depends on file sizes and the internet connection available at your location.
Do you provide QTAKE video assist?
Yes. QTAKE video mixing and overlays can be included in your on-set package. These let the director, cinematographer and agency team review combined images on set, which is useful when planning shots that will involve compositing in post-production.
Can you support Netflix and international production workflows?
We can plan the DIT workflow around Netflix and other international production requirements. Share the project’s technical specifications during prep so we can agree the backup strategy, colour workflow and delivery formats with your production and post teams. Requirements are confirmed for each project.
How does a DIT help with post-production?
We prepare transcodes, dailies, sound-synced files, burn-ins and proxies to the agreed editorial specifications. Organised camera media and a clear handover help editors and colourists pick up the project, whether post-production is in the UAE or overseas.
How do I book a DIT or data wrangler in Dubai?
Contact Mile Studios with your shoot dates, UAE locations, camera models and count, recording formats and expected data volume. Include any dailies, remote review, QTAKE or post-production delivery requirements. We’ll recommend a DIT or data wrangling package for your production.
