Sound design FAQs

Planning audio post production in Dubai or elsewhere in the UAE? Here is what to consider before the first sound session.

14 questions

What sound design services do you offer in Dubai?

Our audio team handles sound design, Foley, dialogue replacement (ADR), mixing and mastering for film, television and branded content. We bring these stages together around your edit, with the scope and delivery requirements agreed at the start.

Where is your audio studio in Dubai?

Our Dubai studio is at Boutique Studios 4, Dubai Studio City, Dubai, UAE. Contact our Dubai team with your project brief and preferred dates to discuss a sound session and confirm availability.

What is the difference between sound design, Foley and mixing?

Sound design builds the sonic character of a scene through atmosphere, effects and creative choices. Foley recreates physical details such as footsteps, clothing movement and objects being handled, in time with the picture. Mixing brings dialogue, music and effects together, shaping their balance, space and dynamics.

Can you replace dialogue that was difficult to record on set?

ADR allows selected lines to be recorded again in sync with the picture. We review the original recording and the scene to decide where replacement is appropriate. The performance, microphone sound and surrounding atmosphere all matter when fitting a new line into the edit.

Do you offer Dolby Atmos mixing?

Our main mixing stage supports Dolby Atmos for television and home cinema. Share the intended platform and its delivery specifications so we can confirm the appropriate mix format, review process and deliverables for your project.

Can you mix stereo, surround and immersive audio?

Yes. Our studio supports stereo, surround and immersive audio formats. Tell us where your film or campaign will be heard so we can agree the appropriate mix and any additional versions. Format and delivery requirements are confirmed as part of the project brief.

Can you prepare audio for television and streaming projects in the UAE?

Our audio setup is designed for broadcast, film and streaming deliverables. Share the broadcaster or platform's delivery requirements with your edit so we can agree the mix format and final files. The required specifications depend on where your project will be released.

Is your Dubai audio studio acoustically treated?

Yes. The studio has an acoustically treated and isolated control room, providing a dedicated environment for listening to dialogue, music and effects. This supports focused review and mixing as the team works through the details of your soundtrack.

What recording and mixing equipment does the studio use?

An analogue and digital mixing interface with tactile control surfaces is paired with an integrated audio interface and preamp system. The studio also has a high-end Mac workstation and dual high-resolution displays for the audio session and reference picture.

Which audio software is the studio compatible with?

The setup is compatible with Pro Tools, Logic Pro and DaVinci Resolve Fairlight. Let us know which software and version your editor uses before sending a session so we can confirm the handover format and any project requirements.

How much does sound design cost, and how long does it take?

The scope depends on running time, the condition of the dialogue, the amount of original sound and Foley, any ADR sessions, review rounds and the delivery formats. Request a sound design quote with your edit or brief, sound references and deadline so we can assess the work and schedule.

What should I send before audio post production begins?

Start with a reference picture, your latest edit status, a brief and the delivery specifications. Let us know what dialogue, music and other audio are available. We will confirm the audio export format, media organisation and transfer requirements with your editor before the handover.

Does the picture need to be locked before sound work starts?

A locked picture gives the sound team a stable reference for timing and sync. If the edit is still changing, tell us what remains open so we can agree which work can begin and how later picture changes will be handled. Confirming this early helps avoid repeating detailed sound work.

Can you handle sound alongside the rest of post production?

Yes. Our post-production team brings sound together with editing, colour grading, motion graphics and VFX. Agree the stages you need when briefing the project so we can plan the handovers and final delivery together.
